제목 Temperature-sensitive sol-gel transition polypeptide aqueous solutions for biomedical applications
초록 Enzymatic degradation of the polypeptide while keeping hydrolytic stability in phosphate buffered saline makes these systems attractive to biomedical applications including as drug delivery and tissue engineering. Recently, we have developed polypeptide-based block copolymer aqueous solutions that undergo sol-to-gel transition as the temperature increases. Depending on the composition and molecular weight of the polypeptide, the secondary structure and enzymatic degradability of polypeptide could be controlled. Mechanism of sol-to-gel transition involves the secondary structural changes of polypeptide as well as the dehydration of the hydrophilic block. As an injectable depot system, protein delivery, three dimensional cell culture, and cell therapy were investigated. The in-situ formed gel provided a happy microenvironment for protein drug delivery and 3D culture of the incorporated cells.
