Oil-water separation is a very important procedure in many industry activities. However, fabrics and metal meshes usually have large pore size which could be only used for the separation of oil-water mixtures but not effective for oil-water emulsions, ultrathin films have extremely high flux but usually suffer from low mechanical strength. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane possesses potential applications in the field of filtration, because of their excellent resistance towards harsh chemicals. In this experimental study, ultrathin fibrous PVDF membranes were prepared by means of electrospinning technique for the purpose of low-cost, high-efficiency oil-water separation. |
