A bulk copolymerization method was used to prepare copolymers consisting of methylmethacrylate(MMA) and trifluoroethyl metahcrylate(TFEMA) in which the content of TFEMA ranged from 0 to 100 %. Copolymers prepared were characterized in terms of molecular structure by 1H NMR and physical properties by DSC, Abbe refractometer and UV/VIS spectrometer. It was found on the basis of Fineman-Ross method and first order Markov statistics that all copolymers prepared were random copolymers. Both refractive index and glass transition temperature decreased from 1.492 to 1.410 and 114 ℃ to 76 ℃, respectively, with increasing the content of TFEMA from 0 to 100 mol%. All copolymers showed excellent transparency of more than 90% transmittance, regardless of its composition. |
