Effects of amide wax on properties of filled polyamide 66 composites with glass fiber |

Polymer composites have been widely applied in automotive parts, aircraft parts, etc., due to their good performance, mechanical properties, light weight and low cost. In some cases, high loadings of glass fiber are required to achieve the desired performance as replacement of metal applications. But the polymer composites containing lots of glass fiber have several defects including poor flowability, poor dispersion and surface roughness, etc. In this work, we examined the effects of amide wax on properties of PA 66/GF composites. The amide waxes were prepared from stearic acid and various amine monomers. PA 66/GF composites were fabricated by melt compounding and the prepared amide wax was also compounded simultaneously. The structure of the synthesized amide wax was analyzed by FT-IR and NMR. Mechanical and rheological properties and surface smoothness of the composites were investigated by universal testing machine, capillary rheometer and glossmeter, respectively. |
