UV-Visible Light-responsive TiO2-carbon dot for Antifouling Effect by Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity |

Light-responsive nanoparticles in UV-visible wavelength range based on carbonized poly (dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate)-q-catechol (PDMA-q-Ca)–TiO2 nanoparticles for photocatalyst and antifouling was synthesized. The carbon dot (CD) derived from the carbonized form of PDMA-q-Ca displayed a graphene-like structure with similar lattice spacing and exhibited the capability to absorb visible light which played significant rule to improve the TiO2 photocatalytic. The surface coated with TiO2-CD demonstrated the changing in wettability from hydrophobic to more hydrophilic surface when irradiated with UV or visible light noting the capability as antifouling agent. Furthermore, cell detachments from the TiO2-CD-coated surface prove its antifouling features in the presence of visible light. According to this investigation, the combination of TiO2 and CD demonstrated capability as an antifouling agent due to their properties to alter the wettability during irradiation by UV and visible light. |
