Methylene blue/fatty acid-complexed nanoparticles: A nanophotosensitizer with high efficacy in photodynamic therapy against breast cancer |
초록 |
Methylene blue (MB) has been used as a dye for staining living tissues and a photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy (PDT). Here, we report MB-assembled nanoformulations with enhancing photosensitizing ability and stability in-vivo condition. Using the electrostatic complexation of positive charged MB/negative charged fatty acid, the coaggregated methylene blue nanoparticles (MB NPs) with the average size of~100 nm were manufactured by aqueous self-assembly of a non-ionic surfactant (Pluronic F-68). The therapeutic efficacy of MB NPs was investigated by peritumoral injection in a xenotransplanted subcutanous tumor (MDA-MB-231, breast cancer) in female nude mice. We demonstrate that the MB nanophotosensitizer can efficiently induce cell death by apoptosis during PDT. |
