Synthesis of yttria-doped bismuth electrolyte powder by carbonate coprecipitationfor IT-SOFCs |

Yttria-doped bismuth (YBO) powders were synthesized by carbonate coprecipitation for preparing electrolytes of an intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (IT-SOFC). The starting salts were yttrium and bismuth nitrate. The crystal structures and the morphological characteristics of particles were analyzed by XRD and SEM, respectively. The ionic conductivity of the sintered pellet was measured by electrochemical impedance analyzer. The size of calcined YBO powders were in the range of 20-100nm as measured by SEM images. The YBO pellets had face-centered cubic structure and their crystallite size was about 22-23nm. The ionic conductivity of YBO pellets sintered at 800℃ was observed to be 2.2×10-1 Scm-1 at 700℃. |
