The nanoporous hydrogen selective SiC membrane has been used for application in membrane reactors for the water gas shift and steam reforming reactions. The pure SiC prepared from SiC waste sludge through purification process. This composite membrane is an environmentally-friendly membrane as reusing industrial waste, SiC sludge. The Y2O3 and Y2O3-CeO2 composite powder was synthesized with Yttrium (Ⅲ) nitrate hexahydrate and Cerium (Ⅲ) nitrate hexahydrate by sol-gel method heat-treatments. Ceria, yttria and lathanum oxide are the usual dopants on SiC base material, which can effectively enhance the ionic conductivity. The membranes were prepared from SiC powder, the Y2O3 and Y2O3-CeO2 composite powder with hydridopolycarbosilane (HPCS) as a binder. The prepared membranes were characterized by X-ray Diffractometer, Field-Emmision Scanning Electron Microscope, Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and Bruner-Emmertt-Teller surface analysis. The effect of porosity will be discussed with relate to the thermal conductivity of SiC/Y2O3 and Y2O3-CeO2 composite membrane. |
