제목 Synthesis of Smart Denpol via ROMP: Interplay between Effect of Self-Assembled Hierarchical Superstructure and Photo-Responsive Mechanical Work
초록 Dendronized polymer (denpol) is newly designed and successfully synthesized by ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornene-based dendrons containing azobenzene-functionalized components and their self-assembly to produce the photomechanical work is systematically investigated. The oriented film forms the well-ordered layer structure with hierarchical sublattice. The lateral molecular packing of the azobenzene mesogens changes with varying the temperature from high-ordered SmF to SmC liquid crystal (LC) to low-ordered SmA phase. The observation of photorevesible actuating motion highlights that photomobile behavior can be precisely controlled in the defined manner by manipulating the hierarchical symmetry of the initial chromophore alignment. The programmed smart denpol possess great potential for the remote-controllable applications in logic devices. This work was mainly supported by MOTIE, BRL, and BK21 Plus program, Korea.
