제목 Simultaneous chemo-photothermal therapy using injectable hydrogel as a therapeutic agent for rheumatoid arthritis
초록 Hyperthermia can promote osteoblast differentiation and bone formation. In particular, hyperthermia combined with chemotherapy provides an effective treatment strategy for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Herein, we proposed chitosan/gelatin/β-glycerol phosphate hydrogel containing melanin and methotrexate (CMM hydrogel), which can perform simultaneously chemotherapy and photothermal therapy as a therapeutic agent for RA. The CMM hydrogel was successfully formed at body temperature through sol-gel transition. Based on the intrinsic properties of melanin, it showed an effective temperature increase as the near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation time increased in vitro and in vivo. After NIR laser irradiation, methotrexate release from the CMM hydrogel increased significantly. Consequently, the CMM hydrogel can be expected to be useful to improve drug release and promote therapeutic effect through hyperthermia for RA therapy
