Graphene Quantum Dots (GQDs) have been widely used for theragnosis for cancer disease. However, one of the current challenges is considerably difficult to release therapeutic agent to target site. In this study, we modified GQDs that introduce herceptin through polyethylene glycol (PEG) and disulfide bond to induce active targeting for specific cells and control the drug release. The resulting of UV spectroscopy, Fluorescence, Fourier Transform Infrared showed that GQD-complex was conjugated successfully. The cell viability was presented that GQD-complex had a substantial effect on HER2-overexpressing breast cancer cells. In the endosomal pH condition, doxorubicin was rapidly released from PEGylated GQD-complex. Besides, this optical imaging by confocal laser scanning microscopy indicated to certainly confirm intracellular trafficking. In conclusion, GQD-complex had potential theragnosis agents to HER2-positive breast cancer cells. |
