Polyimide/multiwalled carbon nanotube (PI/MWCNT) nanocomposite thin films were manufactured by spin-coating of poly(amic acid) (PAA) and acid-treated MWCNT (aMWCNT) solutions on glass plates and following thermal imidization of PAA to PI. For the purpose, PAA as the PI precursor was synthesized by the reaction of pyromellitic dianhydride and 4,4-diaminodiphenylether in N,N-dimethylacetamide and γ-butyrolactone solvents, and aMWCNTs were uniformly dispersed in the PAA solutions with the aid of ultrasonication. The thickness of the PI/aMWCNT thin films was controlled by varying the number of spin-coating and imidization cycles. The morphological features of the nanocomposite thin films were identified by using SEM, TEM, and AFM. The optical transmittance of the thin films with different thickness was evaluated by UV-Vis spectrometer. The sheet resistance and electric heating behavior of the PI/aMWCNT thin films were examined by using multiple sourcemeter, ohmmeter, and infrared camera. |
