Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis (FTS) reaction is a well known reaction to synthesize various hydrocarbons from syngas which can be derived from natural gas reforming reaction. Al substituted SBA-15 is known as an important mesoporous solid acid catalyst, and the series of Al-modified SBA-15 were synthesized by varying Si/Al ratio from 7 to 80 through hydrothermal synthesis and 15% cobalt was subsequently impregnated to verify the catalytic activity. The higher selectivity in C2-C4 hydrocarbons and olefin ratio (O/(O+P)) was obtained compared with the conventional Co-based catalysts. The increased selectivity in C2-C4 can be originated from the possible cracking of higher molecular weight olefins on the acidic sites to light hydrocarbon. In order to analyze the surface properties of the as-prepared catalysts, powder X-ray diffraction, Temperature-Programmed Reduction, Temperature-Programmed Desorption of NH3, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface analysis were mainly carried out. |
