Study on the mechanical properties of size controlled-liquid crystalline graphene oxide fiber |
초록 |
Recently, many exciting materials are nano materials like Carbon nanotube, Graphene, Graphene oxide (GO) etc. These nanomaterials have arisen with high expectation in terms of mechanical and physical performance. But it’s difficult for these materials to apply to a variety of industrial application because it’s too small. So, many researchs described that make a GO fiber which is spun by wet-spinning of aqueous liquid crystals GO dispersions. GO fiber has been announced as brand-new material because GO fiber is produced from mass productive and water based process. Especially, GO fiber spun from liquid crystal phase can represent good properties of GO as macroscale structure because of its good alignment. Unfortunately, the mechanical properties of GO fiber is too low when compared to other carbon based fibers such as carbon nanotube fiber. Thus, many efforts on control of mechanical property of GO fiber has been intensively made. As one of efforts, we investigated the effect of GO size on mechanical and electrical property when they are assembled to a fiber. All GOs fabricated in this study showed typical nematic textures, and wet-spinning method was used to produce a fiber. |
