Polyhedral oligomeric silsequioxane (POSS) is a type of nanoscale molecule that has a well-defined cube-like inorganic core with its corners connected with eight organic functional groups. In this study, POSS was incorporated into the PMMA/SAN blend, and PMMA/SAN/POSS nanofibers were successfully fabricated by electrospinning of the PMMA/SAN/POSS solutions in DMF with the goal to develop functional membrane. The electrospinning conditions were optimized so as to form bead-free PMMA/SAN/POSS nanofibers by varying the concentration of PMMA, SAN, and POSS in the solutions. The morphology and structure of the electrospun nanofibers were studied with the aid of FE-SEM, X-EDS, and XRD. The DSC and TGA measurements were employed to investigate the thermal properties of PMMA/SAN/POSS nanofibers. |
