Polyurethane(PU) coationgs were prepared using nanosilica-dispersed polyoxypropylene glycol(PPG-2000(diol), PPG-2100(triol)) and toluene diisocyanate(TDI). Two different types of nanosilica-dispersed PPG mixtures were prepared: nanosilica/PPG-2000 and nanosilica/PPG-2000 & PPG-2100. The effect of nanosilica/PPG mixtures on the mechanical, thermal and optical properties of resulting PU coatings were compared. The homogeneous dispersion of nanosilica particles into the polyurethane coatings did not change the thermal stability. There was no difference in Tg values of PU films containing various amounts of the nanosilica except 10%. The light absorbance of the PU coating films increased as the nanosilica content increased. The elongation at break and the tensile strength of the PU coating films with increasing the silica content. |
