제목 | Removal of Inorganic Salts from Aqueous Solution Using Carbon Cloth Electrodes |
초록 | Electrochemical deionization(ECD) with activated carbon materials is a new technology to remove inorganic ions from aqueous solutions without pollution causing chemicals or excessive waste water caused by the other technologies in this field. In this study, several ECD experiments were conducted to determine the ion removal capacity using 2,000 μS/cm Nacl solution. Carbon foils and activated carbon clothes were used as current collectors and electrodes respectively. A ECD stack consisted of three cells attached in series. Each cell consists of two parallel carbon cloth electrode plates separated by a 0.5mm gap for solution flow. The carbon clothes, 150mm wide × 200mm long × 0.5mm thick, were used. Aqueous solution was pumped in by a peristaltic pump from the bottom and exited from the top of the stack. The voltage used in these experiments was 1.4∼1.6 V with an applied flow rate of 100mL/min. Sorption of ECD was performed for 10 min at 1.4 V. Regeneration of the ECD unit was begun immediately after the sorption phase and continued for 5 min at 1.6 V. |
