Polyelectrolyte membrane with various controlled thickness prepared by multi-stacking method for direct methanol fuel cell |
초록 |
Direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is in the spotlight at alternative energy system because of high efficiency, usage of renewable liquid fuel, and low environmental cost. However, power density and cell efficiency was significantly decreased due to high methanol crossover through the polyelectrolyte membranes. In this study, we prepared Nafion membranes with various different thickness (in the range from 0.2 to 1.4 mm) by multi-stacking method to suppress methanol crossover and maintain proton conductivity compared to commercially used Nafion. The prepared polyelectrolyte membrane was characterized with FE-SEM, Raman spectroscopy, proton conductivity, and methanol permeability. We demonstrated that the properly thicker membrane prepared by this method will enhance the performance of direct methanol fuel cells. |
