Preparation of N-doped mesoporous carbons by surface treatment for CO2 adsorption |

The scope of this work is studied about N-doped mesoporous carbons using different concentrations of urea treatment and investigated the relation between the amount of surface nitrogen contents and CO2 capture capacity. The amount of basic surface nitrogen of mesoporous carbons is characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The effects of urea treatments on the pore structures of mesoporous carbons are investigated by N2/77 K adsorption isotherm. The CO2 adsorption capacity was measured by CO2 isothermal adsorption at 298 K/1 bar. In the result, the specific surface areas and total pore volumes of all of the treated samples are slightly decreased due to the micropore filling. But that the CO2 capture capacity is increased by the nitrogen-functional group characteristics of mesoporous carbons surfaces, resulting in enhanced electron acceptor-donor interaction at interfaces. |
