In this research, we developed a new type of platform that enables both uniform spontaneous cancer spheroids formation and drug screening based on the electrochemical detection of cell viability. The platform is composed of homogeneous polymer micro wells and highly conductive gold nanostructure (HCGN) platforms that are responsible for uniform spontaneous spheroid formation and the electrical detection. The spheroids on the platform were treated with various anticancer drugs that are commonly used in the treatment of glioblastoma (Cisplatin). As a result, we found that the viability of cancer cells, was decreased with the increase of drug concentrations, which is matched with the electrochemical signals of spheroids. Therefore, we can logically conclude that the developed hybrid platform will be useful as a tool for high-throughput automatic drug screening based on 3D cell culture models. |
