Synthesis and Characterization of meta-Activated Poly(aryl ether) Containing Sulfonic Acid Pendent Groups |

We prepared a series of meta-linked poly(aryl ether)s containing sulfonic acid pendent groups. The meta-linked structure has several advantages in fuel cell membrane applications. It gives more flexibility to the polymer backbone than para-linked structure, and meta-linked aromatic ring is easy to functionalize. And also the sulfonic acid group is apart from the ether linkage of main chains. These structural characters may improve the hydrolytic stability of the polymers and facilitate the micro phase separation . Details of synthesis and characterization of meta-linked poly(aryl ether) with sulfonic acid groups will be presented. |
