제목 Preparation of proton exchange membranes by the gamma-radiation grafting of styrene onto FEP films for a fuel cell
초록 Poly(tetrafluoroethylrene-co-hexafluoropropylene)-g-polystyrene sulfonic acid(FEP-g-PSSA) membranes were prepared by radiation-induced grafting of styrene onto FEP films using simultaneous irradiation technique and subsequent sulfonation in chlorosulfonic acid/dichloroethane mixture. The thickness of FEP films was in the range of 25~100 ㎛. The FEP films were exposed to gamma irradiation doses of 50~200 kGy at a dose rate of 10 kGy/h. The physico-chemical properties of the FEP-g-PSSA membranes such as degree of grafting (DOG), ion exchange capacity (IEC), water uptake and tensile strength were evaluated. The structure variations after the grafting and sulfonation were investigated using FTIR-ATR spectroscopy. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) have been used to study the thermal decomposition and the melting behavior of the grafted FEP films.
