Polymeric materials have been applied to many application fields due to their remarkable properties. Furthermore, these remarkable properties can be maximized by forming the polymer materials into micron-sized particles because the micronizing increase the specific surface area and functionality. The manufacturing methods of polymeric microparticles have been developed for a long time. Among the many methods, the Diels-Alder reaction was used in this study. Under the emulsion condition, the Diels-Alder reaction induced the cycloaddition between Furan polymer and bismaleimide and then, the polymer was crosslinked by multi-functional groups on the bismaleimide. The obtained polymeric microparticles can be appeared retro Diels-Alder reaction depending on temperature, which deform the crosslink of the obtained particles. Utilizing this feature, experiment was carried out by adjusting temperature to develop adhesion performance of microparticles for recovery of tiny crack. |
