In this study, activated carbonfibers (ACFs) were prepared for supercapacitor electrode applications by using isotropic pitch under steam activation conditions. The surface morphologies and micro-structural characteristics of activated carbons were observed by SEM and XRD, respectively. The N2 adsorption isotherm characteristics at 77K were confirmed by BET and DR equations. From the results, specific surface areas and total pore volume of the ACFs were determined as 1250~2790 m2/g and 0.50~1.37 cm3/g, respectively. It was also observed that various pore size distributions were found to be depended on the functions of activation time and temperature. The ACFs were applied as an electrode for EDLCs and analyzed in relation to the activation conditions. |
