The semi-crystalline unit containing poly(arylene ether ketone)s were synthesized from 1,4-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene(1,4-FBB) and 2,2-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-hexafluoropropane (6F-BPA) with disodium 3,3`-disulfonate-4,4`-difluorodi-phenylsulfone(SDFDPS) in DMAc. The resulting copolymers afforded tough and ductile membranes by solution casting from DMAc. Membrane properties of these copolymers were characterized with regard to intrinsic viscosity, thermal stabilities, morphology, water uptake, oxidation stability and proton conductivity. The results were compared to those of Nafion212®. The morphology developed in the membranes was illustrated by atomic force microscope(AFM), which account for enhanced proton conductivity at reduced relative humidity(RH). The properties of membranes were very remarkable for fuel cell membranes application. |
