Over 11 % efficiency Cu2ZnSnSe4 thin film solar cells by sputtering metal precursor layers |

Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTSSe) has been widely studied for thin film solar cells due to suitable optical properties – high absorption coefficient higher than 104 cm-1 and direct band gap of about 1.0~1.5 eV. The materials for CZTSSe are low cost, less toxic, and abundant relative to other materials based solar cells such as CdTe and Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS). CZTSSe thin films can be produced by sputtering, evaporation and solution-based deposition methods. In particular, sputtering is considered a promising technique since it offers reliable and uniform thin films. In this work, CZTSe films were prepared on Mo coated soda-lime glass by annealing stacked precursors in selenium atmosphere. The precursors were deposited by DC sputtering system, composed of metals with Cu/Sn/Zn/Mo stacking orders. We fabricated CZTSe thin film solar cells, targeting appropriate Cu-poor and Zn-rich composition. The best efficiency of CZTSe solar cells with active area of about 0.185 cm2 was 11.47 %. |
