In1-xNixTaO44 photocatalysts have been synthesized by a solid-state reaction and solvothermal methods and characterized by X-ray diffraction, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance and water splitting. The photocatalyst powders were examined to have a typical wolframite type, monoclinic crystal structure. The structure was apparently maintained with doping of Ni up to 0.2 at.%. UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra showed absorbtion peak in the wavelength region from 400 to 600nm, indicating that the photocatalyst powders have ability to respond to a visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolutions were obtained from various water solution and discussed in terms of acidity of the solution and band gab structure. |
