초록 | This study presents an analysis of the fate mechanisms of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) for their removal from the effluent. An extended model of the benchmark simulation model 1 (BSM1) was developed for considering the effects of AgNPs, and the activated sludge model 1 (ASM1) of the BSM1 was changed to enter their fate mechanisms. Implementation of chemical precipitation was additionally accounted in the model to enhance the removal. Thus, a scenario without chemical precipitation showed removal efficiency of more than 74% of AgNPs concentration, and a second scenario with chemical showed improvement of 4%. This study helps to broaden types of WWTPs by allowing the control of AgNPs in wastewater.
