There are two methods for introducing template molecule to the molecular imprinting system. Firstly, various monomers which can bond with template molecules noncovalently are used. After polymerization, template molecules can be easily removed but disperse heterogeneouly in the matrix. In second method, homogeneous dispersion of template molecule can be obtained by using covalent bond. But the covalent bonds cannot be removed easily. In this study thermally cleavable covalent bonds were used for introducing template molecule to the molecular imprinted system. It is expected that thermally cleavable bond can make template molecules disperse homogeneously and also easily removed from the imprinted matrix by elevating the temperature. Isocyanate and phenol group in estrone as template molecule has been widely known to form thermally cleavable urethane bonds. Silica materials are very promisable because they have good thermal stability and processability. While molecular imprinting of polymeric system has been reported intensively, there are few studies about using silica materials for molecular imprinting system. It may be due to difficulty of cavity formation. We are trying to obtain silica materials that have homogeneous cavity on their surface. And the functional site was introduced in this cavity, which is capable of forming hydrogen bonds with estrone. It is important to find out exact amount of estrone in a living body for preventing the breast cancer, which is mainly caused by it. |
