제목 Effective Separation of Europium and Yttrium in Hexanoic Acid-Crown Ether System
초록 The solvent extraction of rare earth elements such as europium and yttrium has been investigated. It has been found that the synergistic solvent extraction method for the separation of the metals can be achieved by using a hexanoic acid as an extractant with crown ether. In order to improve the selectivity of europium and yttrium, the effects of the following factors on the metal extraction experiment have been considered: ⅰ) pH, ⅱ) the concentration of extractant, ⅲ) the kinds of crown ether. As a result, the pH0.5 difference of europium ans yttrium in the experiment using 0.05M hexanoic acid extract is about 0.10, and extraction species of the two metals should be MR3•3RH. Moreover, the additive such as 12-crown-4 ether, 15-crown-5 ether and 18-crown-6 ether is used in order to increase the separation effect of two metals, and using 15-crown-5 ether among them shows the highest pH0.5 difference value.
