Membrane filtration is widely accepted as the fast and efficient method in water purification, and therefore, more practical and durable high performance material is highly required. Polymer-based membranes are light, economical, and easy-to-process compared to inorganic ones. Here we present our study of the functional active layer coatings for membrane technology. The active layer coating is prepared as micro-blended film of amphiphilic copolymers-hydrophilic homopolymer. The coatings were formed with various nano-morphological structures, and we utilized them for separation membrane including microchip system. The active layer coating exhibited excellent antifouling effect, which made it more suitable for the separation of biological mixture. We expect this coating system can be applied to various microseparation technology. |
