In order to study solvent effect on sunfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (sPEEK) properties, sPEEK was dissolved in two solvents N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) with several sulfonation degrees (SD) of 65, 70 and 75%. These membranes were investigated its properties such as: water uptake, methanol permeability, proton conductivity, small angle X-ray scattering (SAXs) and direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). There were some different between sPEEK membrane synthesized using DMAc and NMP (in DMAc and in NMP), special SAXs, it showed very difference about cluster dimension of sPEEK membrane in NMP and DMAc, with value of 3.22 and 2.70nm, respectively. The effect of solvent was also presented at water uptake, methanol permeability and proton conductivity of membrane, these properties of membrane made by NMP got value higher than DMAc, but DMFC results showed contrary. |
