Mechanical interfacial properties and morphology of DGEBA/ECO/nano-CaCO3 ternary systems |

In this study, the mechanical interfacial properties of DGEBA/ECO/nano-CaCO3 ternary systems were investigated by measurement of impact strength. The flexural strength and elastic modulus of the ternary systems were determined with the three-point bending test. The fracture surfaces of the ternary systems after the impact tests were examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM). As a result, the impact strength of the ternary systems was improved by the addition of ECO and nano-CaCO3. The flexural strength of the ternary systems exhibited a maximum value at 20 wt% ECO. The elastic modulus of the ternary systems was a constant up to 20 wt% ECO and then decreased with increasing ECO content. The SEM micrographs showed that shear deformation occurred to prevent the propagation of crack in the DGEBA/ECO/nano-CaCO3 ternary systems. |
