Synthesis and Characterization of New Ladder like Poly(silsesquioxane) Containing Polyoxazoline Moieties in the Side Chains. |

We succeeded in the synthesis of new hybrid ladderlike poly(silsesquioxane) with polyoxazoline groups in the side chains. A reactive ladderlike poly(silsesquioxane) with pendant chloromethyl groups was used as an initiator for ring-opening polymerization of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline. The polymerization of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline was conducted with various feed ratios of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline to ladderlike poly(silsesquioxane). Their structures and thermal properties were investigated by H-NMR, IR, DSC, and TGA. The graft-shaped polymer consisting of a rigid-rod ladderlike poly(silsesquioxane) and hydrophilic poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline) showed excellent thermal stability and good compatibility with commodity polymer. |
