제목 | Investigation of sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone)/PTFE composite membranes fabricated by controlling surface energy of substrate for energy conversion devices application |
초록 | The mechanically and chemically stabilized sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) (SPAES) /PTFE composite membranes were manufactured through the surface energy modification using 1-propanol(NPA) treatment and investigated for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) and polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE). In-plane dimensional stability, mechanical properties, chemical stabilities, and hydrogen barrier properties were enhanced because of the excellent physicochemical properties of PTFE substrate. For the fuel cells, although the performance of the fuel cell was slightly decreased with SPAES/PTFE composite membrane, the long-term stability under the wet-dry cycles was much enhanced by the reinforcement of the pristine SPAES ionomers. In water electrolysis, SPAES/PTFE composite membranes showed better performance than the pristine SPAES probably due to the enhanced interfacial stability between catalyst-layer and PEM. |
