제목 Multilayered composite membranes based on hydrocarbon ionomer/porous PTFE substrate for proton exchange membrane fuel cell and water electrolysis
초록 Inthis work, a multilayered composite membrane comprised of a sulfonatedpoly(arylene ether sulfone) (SPAES) ionomer and porous polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) substrate was developed for improving the mechanical property anddimensional stability of the hydrocarbon-based membrane. The SPAES ionomerimpregnated into the pores of PTFE by treating the surface of PTFE with1-propanol. To examine the effect of the thickness of PTFE on the impregnationof SPAES, the three layered (one PTFE layer, 10 μm-thick substrate) and fivelayered (two PTFE layers, 5 μm-thick substrate) membranes were prepared. Byemploying the composite membranes in the proton exchange membrane fuel cell andwater electrolysis systems, the electrochemical properties such as cellperformance, impedance, and durability were evaluated at 80 °C under fullyhydrated conditions.
