Extensive research works on nanoparticles related to various coating applications have been widely carried out recently, such as anti-corrosive, fire-resistant, anti-abrasive, self-cleaning, and anti-bacterial coatings. In the applications, functional fillers should be effectively incorporated without any deterioration of physical properties. The addition of the fillers can be achieved by various methods. Among these, nano- or micro-encapsulation processes can be a versatile technique to protect or release vulnerable additives and prevent aggregation of nano-scale additives. In this talk, a basic aspect of encapsulation technique with some examples will be discussed. |
