Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) nanotubes were successfully fabricated by vapor deposition polymerization mediated electrospinning. These coaxial nanofibers have 61 S cm-1 in conductivity. PEDOT nanotubes exhibited better sensitivity than PVA/PEDOT nanocable due to high surface-to-volume ratio and the thin walls of PEDOT nanotubes allow fast diffusion of gas molecules in and out of materials. Additionally, Nanofiber and nanotube sensors with reversible and reproducible response have a measurable value to NH3 vapor concentration. Furthermore, this facile methodology could be expanded to allow the fabrication of PEDOT nanotubes in fields including chemical/bio sensors, separation, and tissue engineering scaffolds. |
