Thermal behavior, Mechanical and Rheological Properties of Poly(butylene succinate) Nanocomposites Based on Cellulose Nanocrystals |

As interest in environmental issues is increasing, the industrial and scientific research of biodegradable polymers have been developed. Poly(butylene succinate) is one of the best biodegradable polymer having good biodegradability, despite insufficient mechanical properties comparing to petrochemical polymer. In order to overcome these drawbacks, we synthesized the PBS nanocomposites with cellulose nanocrystals, which showed mechanical and thermal stability improvements. The well-dispersed CNCs in the PBS matrix was contributed to tensile strength has been increased. Moreover, the decomposition temperature (Td) and crystallization temperature (Tc) of PBS/CNCs nanocomposites was enhanced comparing to pristine PBS. In this study, these improved properties suggest possibility for organic-organic composites that CNCs can be an organic filler as substitution of carbon based material, nanoclay, etc. |
