In recent decades, as environmental pollution problem has emerged, the recycling technology for a thermosetting polymer has been highlighted. Many research teams have reported that supercritical fluid technology will be the promising solution for recycling of the thermosetting polymer. In this study, the decrosslinking reaction of silane crosslinked polyethylene under supercritical conditions was investigated. The decrosslinking reaction was performed with various parameters in supercritical condtions like different temperature, pressure, reaction time, weight ratio of solvent to polymer. It was found that the silane crosslinked polyethylene could be completely decrosslinked in supercritical conditions. After the decrosslinking reaction, the product was analysed with FT-IR, DSC, High-temperature GPC and gel contents measurement. As a result, the rate of decrosslinking reaction was affected by various parameters such as temperature, reaction time and a kind of solvent. Based on this investigation, the reaction rate was predicted. A kinetic model of SXLPE decrosslinking reaction was developed with temperature and reaction time as variables. The properties of decrosslinked polymer were similar with raw polymer. |
