Thermally stable silver-mercaptosuccinic acid redoped polyaniline nanoparticles (MSA-Ag-PANI) are synthesized via doping, dedoping and redoping method and the structures and chemical properties of the Ag-MSA-PANI is confirmed by FT-IR and UV-vis. The relative surface resistivity of MSA-PANI and Ag-MSA-PANI has been investicated as a function of heating in air. In XPS spectra, The S 2p spectrum of the Ag-MSA-PANI before heating contains peak-fitted sulfur components centered at 167.7, 163.8 and 162.7 eV .On the contrary, The S 2p spectrum of the Ag-MSA-PANI after heating shows additional peak at 161.7 eV. TEM has been performed to investigate morphological changes of the Ag-MSA-PANI nanoparticles before and after thermal aging at 120oC in air for 120 min. As the Ag-MSA-PANI is heated, nucleation and growth of silver occurred and well-dispersed metal nanoparticles are created in the PANI particles and this morphological change is likely responsible for thermal behavior of Ag-MSA-PANI. |
