Poly(vinyl alcohol) is a abundantt material for the membranes used in pervaporation dehydration of isopropanol. However, it still has such limitations in stability and separation performance. To that end, recent research efforts have been focused on developing new types of membranes incorporating selective inorganic fillers, denoted as Mixed Matrix Membrane. However, the conventional blending approach for MMMs has been led to significant weakpoints in developing uniform dispersion of fillers when high loading content fillers are incorporated with the polymer matrix. This study suggested a useful strategy for the fabrication of MMMs using a new method of polymer Metal Ion-Induced metal-organic framework synthesis. Based on PMIMOF, we designed the PVA/ZIF8 MMMs with good dispersion of fillers and high loading content. We anticipated that the PMIMOF-derived MMMs could exhibit much-enhanced separation performance in IPA dehydration than that of the simple blend-induced PVA/ZIF-8 MMMs. |
