Since most polymers are not inherently stable to UV light, their photochemical behavior remains a subject of constant interest. In this talk, the photooxidative degradation behavior of polymeric colloidal crystal will be reported. 3D and 2D colloidal crystals was prepared and exposed to UV light. As a consequence of photochemical reactions, photoaging induced morphological changes in the film surface including changes in the size, surface roughness, shape, and packing structure of PS particles. During the photoaging, the chemical composition of the colloidal crystals was also modified. The photooxidation behavior of the colloidal crystals was considerably influenced by the light intensity depending on the type of lamp. The photooxidation process can be used to modify the surface patterns of colloidal crystals. These results can give a fundamental guideline for the application of polymeric colloidal crystals, and expand the utility and diversity of micro/nanopatterning technologies. |
