제목 Effect of phenyl substitution on electrochemically mediated dechlorination of allyl chloride by Co(I)(bipyridine) in aqueous CTAB solutions
초록 Allyl chloride (AC) and its derivatives are prominent environmental contaminants. This work reports electrocatalytic reductive dechlorination of a phenyl-substituted allyl chloride derivative, cinnamyl chloride (CiC), by electrogenerated [Co(I)(bpy)3]+ (where bpy = 2,2’-bipyridine) in environmentally benign CTAB aqueous solutions to examine the effects of phenyl substitution on the dechlorination reaction. Cyclic voltammetry over a range of scan rates and CiC concentrations identified the rate limiting mechanism for Co(I)-catalyzed CiC dechlorination, and estimated the homogeneous electron-transfer rate constant (kcat).
