Cadaverine, 1,5-Diaminopentane which is an important industrial platform chemical, can be produced by using renewable biomass and biocatalysts. The various types of bio-nylons (nylon-5,4, nylon-5,6, nylon-5,10 and nylon-5,12) can be produced by combining the produced cadaverine having two amine groups with other diacids. These polymers have superior quality in terms of stability and water/chemical resistant compared to other polymers from petrochemical industry. LDC (lysine decarboxylase) is an enzyme that converts lysine into cadaverine. In this study, ldcC gene, the less-studied LDC derived from E. coli, was overexpressed in E. coli BL21. The conversion reactions were carried out using the whole cells in higher than 1M lysine solution, and the reaction conditions for high concentration of lysine were examined to increase the conversion efficiency. We also studied the stability of the ldcC by reusing the whole cell biocatalyst. |
