Although more than 200,000 patients are suffering for peripheral nerve injury, there is still not an effective treatment to replace surgical repair. Allografts or autografts to bridge nerve gaps are used popular, but they also have side effects such as infection, formation of neuroma, and long recover time. Development of nerve conduit with biodegradable hydrogels and nanofibers can be alternative to the methods. In this study, we fabricated scaffolds consist of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) hydrogel and polycaprolactone (PCL) aligned electrospun nanofiber, which it is rolled to make a tube-form. It have a variety of advantages; making an environment similar to ECM, inducing cell differentiation, and maintaining steady release of growth factors or chemical cues. By this research, we anticipate expanding the applicable range of tissue engineering. |
