Organic–inorganic hybrid materials have been a most effective source for advanced materials due to their wide range of applications associated with unique thermal, mechanical, rheological, chemical, and physical properties. Among various inorganic building blocks, polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) are a new class of condensed three-dimensional oligomeric organosiliceous compounds with cage frameworks. Porphyrin is a highly light-sensitive chromophore that is widely used in photoelectronic and biological applications. We firstly synthesized hydrophilic dendron modified porphyrin derivatives possessing CO2H-terminus which was covalently incorporated into the POSS using “DCC/DMAP” condition, to afford Porphyrin-POSS hybrids. We report on the synthesis and photophysical properties of Porphyrin-POSS hybrids for singlet oxygen generation. |
