Polystyrene (PS) bead was synthesized with emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization and was used as a template material for the synthesis of macroporous carbon with sucrose as a carbon precursor. For the meso/macroporous carbon, SBA-15:PS ( ratio 1:4) was synthesized and was used as a template. The characterization of the materials was carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2-adsorption/desorption (BET), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Transmission electron microscope (TEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Macroporous and meso/macroporous carbons are successfully synthesized and will be good candidates in the field of catalysis for future applications. |
