Sprayable and Injectable Gelatin Hydrogels with a Broad Range of Stiffness |

Previously, we have reported injectable gelatin-PEG-tyramine hydrogel by enzymatic cross-linking for tissue regeneration. In this study, new injectable gelatin (100%) hydrogels have been prepared by using gelatin derivatives with various phenolic contents, which have been synthesized by coupling hydroxyphenyl propionic acid (HPA) and tyramine (TA). The physico-chemical properties of GHPA-TA hydrogels were characterized and mechanical strength revealed a broad range of stiffness (2,220-30,580 Pa). The evaluation of tissue adhesive on porcine skins showed the controllable adhesive strength (15-25 kPa) by changing phenolic contents. The obtained results demonstrate the effect of cross-linking density in hydrogels and gelatin hydrogels have a great potential as a sprayable and injectable adhesive matrix for biomedical applications. |
