Polyols available for elastomer synthesis include polyester, polyether, polycarbonate, hydrocarbons and polydimethylsoloxanes. The most commonly used polyols are polyether or polyester based compounds. Generally, polyurethaneureas have been produced with polyester and polyether soft segment. Polyether-based polyurethaneureas exhibit a relatively high resistance to hydrolytic cleavage, when compared with polyester polyurethaneureas. In this study, the effect of polyol structure and unsaturation level of the polyol on properties of polyurethaneurea was investigated by changing the amount of unsaturation content from 0.005 meq/g, which was produced by newly developed multi-metal catalyst to 0.035 meq/g, which was produced by conventional KOH catalyst. The unsaturation level contained in polyols was demonstrated to be a decisive factor to achieve high performance polyurethaneurea. |
